Great new teacher for Friday

Great News! Emmilee Laurie-Fendall will be teaching at the studio this Friday 3rd February at 12.30pm.

Emmilee is an experienced yoga instructor in Hatha and Vinyasa styles, and she is great at teaching intermediate to to advanced students. Emmille has a fun, outgoing personality. She also is experienced in teaching Yoga to skiers and snowboarders.

Join her for her first class, this Friday 3rd February at 12.30pm. Casual visitors welcome.

NEW BEGINNERS YOGA COURSE

Do you need to brush up your yoga technique? Or learn how to do yoga properly with a highly experienced teacher?

Ali from Sadhana Yoga will be running a new 4 week Beginners Course on Thursday nights @ 8.15pm. Starts next Thursday, 2nd February. 

Mats provided.

  • WEEK 1- salute cycles and standing poses (active movement)
  • WEEK 2 – seated forward bends, back bends, twists (stretches)
  • WEEK 3 – strength poses, arm balances, inversions (confidence building)
  • WEEK 4 – closing sequence and breathing work (health and wellbeing)

Cost: $60 for the 4 weeks beginners course, casual visit $20 (members welcome)

Nothing beats being still and reflective with a group of yogis, taking in natural beauty and finding deep power within. Natural beauty is happening all around, you simply need to look up from the screen and refocus your mind – Ali

Thursday  nights  8pm throughout  January.  New meditators welcome

Join us at Sadhana Yoga – 9 Park Road, Miramar – and venture out onto beautiful locations on the Peninsula (weather permitting) for a special meditation.

If the weather is raining we will meditate in the studio by candlelight. If it is fine then a meditation adventure awaits us.

  • Weather permitting: we will head out on a special outdoor meditation
  • Wet weather call: we will meditate in a candlelit studio

 Midsummer’s night meditation …

Summer solstice officially starts in Wellington at 11.44 pm on Wednesday, 21st December 2016. Join us for a special meditation on Thursday 22nd Dec. at 8 pm. Focus your inner passions and set new intentions for the year to come. Transform the longest day into something special. Intensify your energies for an amazing 2017.

WHEN: Thursday night at 8 pm, 22nd December, 2016.

WHERE: Meet up, Sadhana Yoga, 9 Park Road, Miramar

WHAT TO BRING: If the weather holds we will venture out and watch the sunset in a beautiful spot on the Peninsula (walking shoes advised). If it is rainy we will meditate indoors using candles (BYO candle for your own dedication focus)

Noticing the world around us …

Be curious, and catch sight of the beautiful, remark on the unusual. Notice the changing seasons. Be aware of the world around you and what you are feeling. Reflecting on your experiences will help you appreciate what matters to you.

  • Practice yoga or meditation, or get a mirimiri (massage) infusing your body in oil and releasing tension from your body.

  • Try to get out of your work environment during breaks. Go for a walk into a nearby park or natural area, being mindful of your breathing, your footsteps and the environment around you.

  • Spend time gardening or create a green space in your home or office where you could grow a few small plants, such as herbs, on a windowsill.

  • Take notice of the night sky. Be aware of what phase the moon is in and how the visible constellations change throughout the year.

  • Go for a bush walk, try to identify the different animal and plant species you see and photograph them while taking the time to really notice what you are photographing.

  • Take the time to give a special thank you to people who support you every day.

  • At the end of the day ask friends, family or colleagues what the best thing was about their day and listen with interest when they respond.

  • Begin meetings with a karakia (prayer) or short reflection (eg, an inspiring quote) followed by a brief silent period, allowing people to breathe mindfully and bring their full attention into the room. End in a similar fashion
